These fees are strictly enforced. ⚠️ If a fee is not paid correctly or on time, the application may be: • rejected, • denied without review, • or terminated, even if your case is strong. ⸻ 1️⃣ ANNUAL ASYLUM FEE - IMMIGRATION COURT Amount: $102 per asylum application Who must pay: • Individuals whose asylum application has been pending for more than 1 year in Immigration Court When: • The judge may require payment at any time Deadline: • The judge may set a very short deadline (even 1 day) Fee waiver: ❌ Not available ⚠️ If the fee is not paid by the deadline set by the judge, the asylum case may be terminated or dismissed. How to pay • Online payment through the Immigration Court website • Select: “Court - Form I-589 - Annual Asylum Fee” • Save the receipt and the Payment Tracking ID • Provide them to your attorney ⸻ 2️⃣ ANNUAL ASYLUM FEE - USCIS Amount: $102 Who must pay: • Asylum applicants whose case has been pending with USCIS for more than 1 year Payment deadline: • Usually 30 days Fee waiver: ❌ Not available How to check if payment is required • Go to the USCIS website to pay the annual fee • Enter: • your A-Number • your asylum receipt number • If payment is required, the “Pay and Submit” button will appear How to pay • Online payment by: • credit card • debit card • U.S. bank account • Be sure to save the Agency Tracking ID and the receipt ⸻ 3️⃣ FEE FOR INITIAL ASYLUM APPLICATION (Form I-589) Amount: $100 Applies to: • All new asylum applications Fee waiver: ❌ Not available Filing with USCIS • Payment: • online, or included with the mailed application ⚠️ Without payment, USCIS will return the application.
