Lemon Law

Defective Vehicle? You Have Rights.

Buying a car should not come with constant repairs and frustration. California Lemon Law protects consumers who purchase or lease vehicles with serious, recurring defects — and manufacturers must be held accountable.

At Avagyan Law Firm, we aggressively pursue Lemon Law claims and fight to secure the best possible outcome for our clients.

A vehicle is likely a lemon when:

  • It has a substantial defect covered by warranty (safety, drivability, or major usability)

  • The dealer/manufacturer had a reasonable number of chances to fix it (often 2 attempts for serious safety)

  • The issue began during the warranty period (new, CPO, or extended manufacturer warranty)

Covered vehicles: cars, SUVs, pickups, motorcycles; EVs and hybrids (battery/thermal/charging/software); commercial vehicles ≤10,000 lbs (used primarily for business, in many cases); certain RV/motorhome components.

What You May Be Entitled To

If the manufacturer fails to fix the problem within a reasonable number of attempts, you may be entitled to:

  • A vehicle buyback

  • A replacement vehicle

  • Cash compensation
